The book I have chosen to analyze is Coyote by Gerald Mcdermott. I would classify it as a Pourqoi and it has a little bit of a trickster element to it. I really enjoyed the illustrations of this book! It was one of the main reasons I picked it up in the first place. It was a very enjoyable story full of interesting things. I didn't know it was a pourqoi until the end and I loved that surprise element. It had a good rythym to it as I was reading it, it was funny and it made me get involved mentally. I loved the main character, he was a mischevious coyote who wanted a lot of different things. He also went after a lot of those different wants and it got him into a world of trouble which i thought was really amusing. It was a clever story to explain why a coyote looks the way that it looks now. It is also a little bit of a trickster because, Coyote is always sticking his nose where he shouldn't, I think he met his match with the group of crows that try and help him fly. They are almost as bad as he is. The reason being, they were having fun with him at first and then when they got annoyed of him they decided to ditch him when they were flying. The crows kind of just left him for dead, all because he started to annoy them.
